One of the best times of the year to get into some
serious Barramundi Fishing.
Occurring at the end of the wet season
when the water on the flood plains start receding. With
this receding water comes all sorts of Barramundi sweets,
frog’s tadpoles, small fish etc.
The Barramundi congregate at these run
off locations for what is probably the easiest feed
they are going to get all year. This good news for Barra
is also good news for the fishing, making this piscatorial
pursuit a little easier than it can be at other times
of the year.
Whilst the timing of the Runoff does depend
on the weather as a rule the months of March through
to Mid May is Run Off time.
Famous Top End fishing locations like Shady Camp, South
Alligator River, East Alligator River and the Daly River
are all great Runoff Barramundi fishing locations. During
this time of the year, these rivers produce some great
Barramundi fishing with reports of trophy Barramundi
being a daily occurrence.
Fishing the Run Off is best experienced on an extended
tour. These tours can be either land based accommodation
or Mothership based at the mouth of a Run Off river. The live aboard Mothership fishing charter
option is now becoming quite popular as travel times
on the water can be reduced meaning more fishing time
and access to other areas.
Whilst you cant go past an extended tour if time doesn't
permit you can still get into some great Barramundi
fishing on a day tour.
Take a few minutes to check out Fish The Top End's
Barramundi tour options and start planning your fishing
adventure now as run off fishing tours fill quickly.
